Tim IvesTim Ives has been filming award-winning television shows, films, commercials and music videos since the 1990’s. Among the directors Tim has collaborated with are: Lena Dunham, The Duffer Brothers, Andrew Stanton, Allen Coulter, Darren Starr, Michael Cuesta, Bennet Miller, Anthony Hemmingway, Robert Frank, Niels Arden Oplev, Olivier Gondry, Arthur Elgort, Jake Scott, Lesli Linka Glatter, Floria Sigismondi, Wayne Mclammy and Hank Pearlman. Tim has been the series DP on television shows including seasons 1 and 2 of Stranger Things for Netflix, HBO’s Girls and How To Make It In America as well as season 1 of Power for Starz. Successful pilots Mr. Ives has shot include Mr. Robot for USA, Blue Bloods for CBS and Kitchen Confidential for Fox. Tim filmed the penultimate and finale episodes of House of Cards season one before returning to Girls in NY. Tim was also the NY unit cinematographer for seasons three and four of HBO’s Treme. Motion Picture and short films include, Dinner Rush with Danny Aiello & Sandra Bernhard, Disposal with JK Simmons, Goodnight Valentino with John Rothman and Edoardo Ballerini. Iconic commercial campaigns include Target, Progressive, Geiko, Olay, Budweiser, Old Navy, Dove, Salon Selectives, MasterCard, Pantene, Nivea, Heineken and hundreds more available upon request. Tim has filmed influential music videos for The Roots, Beastie Boys, Bob Dylan, Matt & Kim, Jewel, Counting Crows, John Mellencamp, Blues Traveller, Sarah McLaughlin and Ricky Martin among others. Raised in Southern Vermont, Tim moved to NYC in his 20’s where he began his career as an AC for then-burgeoning cinematographer Harris Savides. Tim’s first break was as a camera operator on Arthur Elgort’s Sundance Cinematography Award-winning doc, Colorado Cowboy, The Bruce Ford Story. From there Mr. Ives moved with his wife Sonia to Los Angeles where he quickly began shooting music videos, commercials and pilots for some of today’s most highly-regarded directors. Moving back east at the millennium to start a family, Tim and Sonia are raising their 3 kids in Brooklyn.
